Metalsmithing & Jewelry
Senior Project
Natural State of Loneliness - a multimedia sculpture installation
Natural State of Loneliness, 2025, exhibited at Spring Storm at the University of Oregon
I spent my final term in school working on this one project; combining my love of storytelling and animation and metalsmithing while practicing working on a long term project.
I designed the frame based on elements from the animation. The final outcome was two separate, standalone projects for my enameling class that function as cohesive pieces of the frame sculpture.
River Run, 2025, is a sculpture made from multiple layered copper enamel pieces, each becoming more complex, backed by recycled douglas fir. The wave piece is created using a cloisonne technique. The rocks have a varying textures and finish but were all created by etching the metal and combining translucent enamels on top. The rainbow trout was created via careful wet packing, glass threads, and black liner and set into the piece via a prong/basket setting.
The Pede, 2025, is an articulated metal sculpture of a centipede. Each “scale” is attached by a loose rivet, allowing for back and forth movement. The enamel is subtle, natural, and delicate, with a glossy finish. It is 11” long when straightened.
Production Line
Inspired by the Oregon Coast
In this course, I designed, created, and sold a cohesive line of production jewelry meant for casual wear.
some of my views of the Oregon Coast
Inspired by the Oregon Coast, my line includes imagery of the flora and fauna, as well as sandblasted finishes and found agates and shells to bring the wearer to the windswept forests and dunes of the Oregon Coast.
